Westpac’s Risk function is on an exciting journey. We are looking for a leader to join the Controls Assurance team to support Westpac’s management of risk and compliance. We are looking for commercially savvy Controls Assurance experts to join our team and play a key role in the future of Risk Management at Westpac.
Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting directly to Senior Manager Controls Assurance, the Manager Controls Assurance will be responsible for planning and executing a progressive integrated Operational risk and Compliance Assurance Program within Westpac New Zealand Limited.
As part of the Risk Assurance team, you will help the team to provide second line assurance to Executive management, the Board and the Westpac Group on the effectiveness of the control environment to manage operational and compliance risks and the maturity of the risk management practices within the Business.
In this role you will:
- Contribute to delivering a robust assurance program that monitors, assesses and reports on the design and operating effectiveness of operational risk and compliance controls
- Proactively identify, evaluate and escalate assurance issues and themes
- Assess the materiality of assurance issues and themes
- Contribute to demonstrable improvement in operational risk and compliance control environment
- Collaborate with Business units to provide valued advice, guidance and recommendations around the operational risk and compliance programs
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
We’re looking for a self-starter with a background in risk management or audit who can skilfully analyse, challenge and understand process operations for 1st Line Risk. Key to your success will be your proven ability to evaluate the control environment and make practical improvement recommendations while demonstrating strong workload planning and time management skills.
Additionally, you will bring:
- Work experience of 3+ years within the financial services area
- Relevant Tertiary qualification
- Compliance and Operational Risk knowledge, application, and experience
- Assurance or audit experience
- Risk monitoring and controls assurance
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
